Africa Fashion Week New York

If you're in New York this weekend, it's the perfect time to get a dose of African style.  The city that never sleeps welcomes the very first Africa Fashion Week.  From  July 12-18, 2010, designers come together to show some of the best of the African diaspora. This event will not only showcase designers but also serve as a networking opportunity  and to raise awareness of African fashion professionals in the area.

Proceeds from the events will support the Bisila Bokoko African Literacy Project, Hope Africa and Fashion Feeds Foundation.

Designers featured include Leonche from Sierra Leone, House of Bunor out of Nigeria, KiRette Couture from Cameroon and Charlene Amankwah of Ghanaian descent. http://www.charleneamankwah.co.uk/
