VAWK - Spring/Summer 2011

Designer Sunny Fong first launched his label, VAWK, in 2004 and by 2009 went on to become the Season 2 winner of Project Runway Canada.  Since then he has enjoyed developing his label to become a critically acclaimed luxury brand.

VAWK is known for its impeccable tailoring and feminine silhouettes.  Fong masterfully creates clothing that accentuates and celebrates a woman's body.  The spring/summer 2011 collection proved to be one that fares well with both young and older women.  Fong said he was influenced by both Africa and Spain for this collection.  He was initially researching Spain when he stumbled upon the work of Kenyan artist, Wangechi Mutu as part of an exhibit at the Art Gallery of Ontario.  This led the creative process to merge the two cultures using color, texture and pattern.  The collection was called Toro Safari
