Ghana Fashion Design Week - Sarah Duah

German-based designer Sarah Duah showed her first collection during Ghana Fashion & Design Week.  The collection was a hairy one that definitely caught the attention of everyone at the show.  It was unique, interesting and was probably one of the highlights of the event.  It was what people were talking about the most after Day 1 of GFDW.

While backstage, I had the opportunity to chat with Sarah about her collection and the reason she chose to use hair.  It was very intriguing because it's not something one would think to use for a garment.  Judging by this collection she is going to make her mark in the industry with her creativity.

Ghana Fashion & Design Week - Love April

Love April
Love April was a mix of modern sophistication with a little bit of edge.  Short shorts made with sequin details, skinny belt and large gold chain was a bit street with a feminine touch.  This was the first collection to hit the runway for the first Ghana Fashion & Design Week. One look even made me think of the legendary Grace Jones.

I spent the show backstage with the hustle and bustle of everything so I didn't get so see the ladies as they made their way down the runway.  The adrenaline and anticipation were so strong as makeup artists, hairstylists and designers worked to get the perfect look for this first event.

These are some of the photos I snapped while backstage, along with a few runway shots by Jewette Johnson.
