Diane von Furstenberg Spring/Summer 2011

Diane von Furstenberg

Diane von Furstenberg is one of my favorite designers.  Her sense of style and creativity in design is enough to make any woman look amazing in her clothing. The designer is best known for her revolutionary creation of the wrap dress in the early 1970's.  That style has become an icon in women's fashion.

For spring 2011 the collection represents a modern woman.  Bold patterns, bright colors and draping of fluid fabrics were key for the season.  This collection was named 'Goddess' after dancer Isadora Duncan. von Furstenberg and her Creative Director, Yvan Mispelaere, were inspired after seeing an exhibit on the dancer in Paris.  The fluid motion of dance is seen in the way the garments were draped complementing the curves of a woman's body.  Designed for the modern woman everything was soft and sophisticated with strong elements of tailoring.

Accessories included carry-all printed bags, fanny packs, tiny clutches with bold patterns, tassel details on purses, skinny belts and Grecian inspired sandals.  Overall it was a collection that represented the beauty of a woman.

Watch the video and see for your self.
