Donna Karan's Ladylike Style for Fall

Donna Karan is one of my favorite fashion designers of all time.  Her clothing always reflects the feminine yet powerful qualities of a woman.  Since launching her label of essentials every woman should have back in 1985, her empire has grown to become one of the most influential design houses in the world.

Karan is known to have said she doesn't design for a fashion model but, rather for the everyday woman.  If the garment doesn't look good on herself, then it's not going to be part of the collection.  The fall/winter 2011 line is no different.  The clothing was sleek, sexy, classic and expressed the power of a woman.  Body skimming pencil skirts were paired with blouses that had pretty details like ruffles and poufy sleeves. Blazers were cinched in at the waist with skinny belts.  She didn't shy away from fur trim details and accessorized with pearls, retro inspired purses and scarves draped over the model's heads.  The color palette was neutral with shades of slate, charcoal, light gray and soft pink.  As always her gowns were elegant and represented the true embodiment of a woman.
